Brandt and Whitney like many other fabric providers is staying current in its selections of floral upholstery fabrics. These discount decorator upholstery fabrics carried by our company can be utilized in any manner possible. Some of our manufactures include but are not limited to Sunbrella, Waverly, Robert Allen, Dura lee, Doral upholstery fabrics and American Silk and this list is just to name a few. Unlike other discount fabric houses like Denver Fabrics, JoAnn fabrics and Hancock fabrics we buy directly from the mills and pass the savings of our way of buying along to you, our customer. JoAnn Fabrics offers a continuous flow of coupons to the general public. But here at Brandt and Whitney we do not feel that this is necessary. We know what our upholstery fabrics are worth to the discount fabric customer and to our customer base in general. We provide discounts that really matter to our customers. What use are the upholstery fabrics that we carry if the customer cannot utilize them?
This takes us back to the wide array of discount decorator fabrics and especially the floral. The first of these companies that we will be speaking about is Waverly. These dramatic floral patterns come in a strikingly wide array of colors. Colors with names like Sea Glass, lapis, Caviar, Ceylon and papaya this is a line to take a look at. At Brandt and Whitney we have more than 25 years experience in dealing with the most reputable companies that are in the fabric industry today. Waverly creates these colors on new and vibrant backgrounds of damask woven to accentuate the pattered over dying process These upholstery fabrics are not for the faint of heart however. If what you are looking for is the mundane and less than wild patterns of your grandmothers youth these fabrics are certainly not, for you. Let's not forget Sunbrella fabrics while we are at it. These upholstery fabrics can also be found in an amazing color pallet and in many different weaves and hands. The discount decorator fabric houses like JoAnn fabrics, Hancock Fabrics and Denver Fabrics are unable to match us when it comes to the variety and styles as well as colors that we here at Brandt and Whitney have to offer our customers.
next fabrics that need to be looked at are the fabrics from the Antiques Road Show collections. The innovative folks at the Antiques Road Show which can be seen on any PBS Station and on channel 6 here in Denver Colorado and in San francisco have designed fabrics that are patterned off of fine antiques.
The first of these is a collection called verdure. This collection is called this because of the landscape that appears in the tapestry. It was discovered by the Antiques Road Show during a taping in Kansas City KS. in 2002. The story as it was related to the show is as follows: Popular among the well to do in the late 19th century this tapestry was willed to the owners family in the late 1930's as a token of gratitude from an employer. the designs with in this book of samples are taken not only from this example but from many tapestries that have either been presented to the Antiques Road Show.
These patterns have all the subtle qualities of the originals themselves. Beautiful muted colors and fabulous color combinations make these fabrics very pleasing to use in almost any setting. The patterns that are selected and offered in this book are not all examples of the tapestry however. Some have the same qualities as the native American and Navajo weaving. These patterns have the bold lines and the geometric intensity that the original have and are far more durable and cost effective than using the originals because who would want to cut up a beautiful piece of art work like the originals? This is where fabrics like this come in to play their usefulness and the saving quality that they have gives these fabrics use appeal!
The next of these fabric books used by the Antiques Road Show were fabrics that were inspired by botanical arts of the period. Many of the fabrics in this book were based on a botanical print book that was presented at the Antiques Road Show during a taping of the show in 2003 in San Francisco. the most prominent of these designs in the book comes from the artist Elizabeth Blackwell. According to the Antiques Road Show, she was one of the foremost botanical artist of the period. She made her mark not only as a superlative artist but as a women as well. The field of botanical studies was not considered one that a women would want to participate in and because of the clarity and beauty of the renderings Blackwell was considered to be one of the best. Many of these books were used by scientists and for public library collections. they were also used in the medical libraries of during this period of time.
These fabrics come in a wide array prints and patterns some find their was into a form that can be seen as the quintessential botanical each with a different colored flower accompanied by a small delicately colored butterfly. These fabrics come with a coordinating solid that makes using and choosing fabrics from the book a great joy.
The third and last of the offerings from the Antiques Roadshow collections are those fabrics inspired by rugs. These fabrics were based on some of the best known oriental tribal patterns that Can be named. Some of these are the Heriz, Bakhtari, and the Char Lang.
These wonderful fabrics mimic the use of the oriental rugs on your furniture. although the use of the genuine article for upholstery has always been acceptable in finer circle the sacristy of these fine originals has made the use of them as fabric for upholstery almost a crime. This is where the use of well designed fabric like these from the Antiques Roadshow very desirable. The use of these fabrics allows the discerning customer to have the same quality as the original antiques would offer but allow the customer to have a much more affordable alternative than the use of the original.
all of the fabrics within the rug inspired book incorporate the lasting designs of the fine original that they are based on as well as incorporating the finer points of pattern and using them as main patterns as well.
The use of all of the floral patterns that we carry and the books that we have in our fabric design area are but a mere beginning to having the best that Brandt and whitney offers.
