So, let's look at some of the wide varieties of colors and styles that are offered by Robert Allen today. As was mentioned earlier, Robert Allen is famous for the pairings of colors as collections. These color collections not only decide what the collection will be, but also how it will look. This may seem to be an easy concept, but to work these collections into an entire line is an amazing feat. But Robert Allen seems to be doing this and doing it very well. We will be looking at many of the color and fabric lines that are carried by Robert Allen.

The first of these amazing color collections that we will be looking at is one called Cameo. The colors in this selection of fabrics is decidedly feminine. Subdued pinks and mauves are the dominate color schemes within this collection. The patterns are classic in their interpretation of what is decidedly feminine. Some of these examples include a pattern aptly named Marble House. This design is a wonderful historic example and pays homage to the fashionable newport Rhode Island summer residence of Alva Vanderbilt. It may not be common knowledge, but Mrs. Vanderbilt loved the color pink. Her entire bedroom suite was done in the color. The delicate interpretation of this pattern from Robert Allen is given a modern touch by the design team at Robert Allen as the the complimentary color choices all have that more than modern flair. Moss greens fades to gold and then turns to pink. It is this type of quality in design that Robert Allen is famous for. This collection also includes tapestries, satin weaves, chenilles and some novelty fabrics. One is called Lamps Alot. This fabric has a bevy of small table lamps woven into the fabric. It would be perfect for a study or that special ladies' retreat within your home.

The wonderful thing about these color specific books by Robert Allen is that it is easy to find just the color that you need. There is no guess work. Simply go to the book and look up the color and there you have it. Even the coordinates are there should you need one. This is no accident. Let look at another of the specific color books by Robert Allen! The next book is called Dresden. From the name one might have guessed that this is a book of blues. Well, you would be right! Robert Allen has taken the lightest blues and the mid color ways in the blue family and has created a wonderful collection of all that might be available in the blue color family.

The very first of these fabrics is a wonderful quilted designer fabric. It has almost a dutch flair. Incorporating the tone on tone blue of the true Dresden pottery with an overlay woven in the pattern of a vine and leaf. This beautiful designer Robert Allen Fabric would be perfect as upholstery for that comfy bedroom chair or sofa and would be just as well utilized as the fabric for a roman shade. The weight and the hand, or how the fabric feels, is heavy and wonderful. Along with this wonderful quilted fabric there are also tapestries, brocades, wovens and even contrasting velvets. This is what makes theses book from Robert Allen so easy and well, let;s face it, fun to use. Is it any wonder that Robert Allen is one of the foremost fabric manufactures in world? Robert Allen makes the use of these books as easy as possible for you, the fabric buying client.

An overview of the beautiful Robert Allen fabric collection in books would more than likely not be complete without a mention of what I consider to be one of the most beautiful offerings out of the Robert Allen Designer Fabric Collection. This wonderful book of fabrics is forward looking and all at once enveloping of the past. This book is called simply Caviar. I know what you are thinking... a book named after a salty fish dish, but it is indeed called just that! Robert Allen has absolutely out done itself with this collection of fabrics. Of course the color way of black in this book is the main theme. But this is a collection that is so much more.

In looking at these fabrics I was impressed by two things. One, the variety and versatility of these fabrics and two, the attention to detail in this Robert Allen collection.

Let me share with you a description of several of these fabrics that I have found to be, to say the least, beautiful! Let's take a look at one called Sofanor Caviar. What can one say about this beautiful designer Robert Allen fabric? It is fantastic! I was struck, as you will be as well, with the wonderful weaving technique that is shown in this Robert Allen offering. This fabric is a throw back to another time. I picture a Victorian morning room with pale mint upholstery and a red ceiling with walls upholstered in this wonderful black Robert Allen fabric. The very weight and hand of this fabric will make it one of your favorites to use in any room of your home. Some customers might say, "Black, I don not want black in my home. It is not cheery and it is a depressing color"! As a designer I would have to agree with this statement if this is the only fabric choice that it being made in the room. But used as an an accent, upholstered walls, that certain chair, or for that one hard to cover window this fabric would be fantastic!

The third of these fabric collections that we want to explore is one named Plush Textures. This is is an an extraordinary collection in that Robert Allen saw a need for a gathering of fabrics that would give the finished upholstered product that comfortable look. This is not to say that Robert Allen fabrics are all not comfortable when applied to a piece of furniture, drapery or bedding fashions. It just seems top me after looking at this collection of fabrics extensively there is a comfortable wrap yourself up kind of coziness about these selections.

The first of these offerings in this book by Robert Allen entitled plush textures essentials comes in colors that are adaptable in most any home. In looking in to this collections there are many fabrics that catch one's eye. In the beginning of this book is a fabric that is called Aoife - toffee. This fabric is a soft but heavy woven. It's content is 49% rayon, 38% cotton, 12% polyester and 1% nylon. It has a washed finish and has been tested for abrasion 21.000 double rubs. This fabric is ideal as a designer upholstery fabric or as a window treatment fabric. The next offering from this book is a fabric named Letterkenny in the color Spice. This unusual fabric incorporates a jacquard weave allowing for raised areas in a diamond pattern punctuated by small droplets of moss green and camel. The hand of this fabric again is soft to the touch, but certainly not any less durable than than the fabric mentioned first. The content of this fabric is 71 % percent rayon and 29% polyester. The color way in this fabric is a dulled peach on a brown background again punctuated by the small dabs of color that we spoken about before.

Robert Allen has hundreds upon hundreds of patterns and contents to choose from. The idea that anyone would run out of selections within the collection is unheard of.

Mohawk Wood Finishing Products Mohawk Blendal Sticks are used to add or alter color when repairing and touching up wood. This product allows quick color replacement on raw or finished edges and flat surfaces. Blendal Sticks are a real time saver but, you will still want to keep the Mohawk Blendal Powder around because the Mohawk Blendal Sticks did not put the Mohawk Blendal powder out of business. You won't need to use your Mohawk Blendal Powders as often once you start using the Mohawk Blendal Sticks, but don't put them away because you will still need the Mohawk Blendal Powders. You can easily blend the colors to accomplish a perfect match with Blendal Sticks, and they are available in thirty-six colors. Mohawk Blendal Sticks are very easy to use and absolutely must be top coated with a finish to seal in the touch up. Custom color matching is available. Also available in 12 pack assortments or a 36 pack assortment. Mohawk Furniture Touch-Up Products Mohawk's Wood Epoxy Putty Stick enables you to restore, rebuild and repair all kinds of wood and other hard surfaces. Excellent adhesive - wood to metal, wood to glass, and wood to ceramic. Mohawk Wood Touch-Up Products Mohawk wood filler EPOXY PUTTY-5 MINUTE The World's Strongest Putty! Bonds To: Plastic, Fiberglass, Brass, Nylon, Aluminum, Glass and Wood. Large defects can be filled with Mohawk's 5 minute Epoxy Putty without the need of any special tools like heating irons, alcohol torches, or knife ovens. The two part Epoxy Putty consist of a RESIN and HARDENER which are mixed in equal parts. This mixture dries in five minutes and is non-shrinking. Excellent for filling large holes, broken corners, etc. Mohawk Furniture Touch-Up Products Mohawk brand Blendal Powder Stain (Pigment Type). Extra fine ground touch-up pigment colors used for spot color replacement on all types of furniture, cabinets, plastics, leather, vinyl and in hundreds of other finishing applications. When applied to areas that need color replacement this product works great used dry and applied lightly with a dry brush. Dry application allows for better control and even application. It may require repeated applications and it is applied like dry powder makeup. Seal in with a light clear coat and repeat as necessary. Other useful techniques include applying with Mohawk LACOVER padding finish. Compatible with various other padding agents, Mohawk French Polish lacquer, shellac, varnish, synthetic finishes and Mohawk Graining Liquid. Apply with a "padding pad" or brush. Sold by volume measure. This is a very versatile Mohawk finishing touch up product and something we use on a daily basis. Mohawk Furniture Touch-Up Products Mohawk Imported Metal Composition Leaf gives a striking and rich effect similar to Gold Leaf at a much lower cost. Widely used in interior decorating, gilding, picture frames, furniture and art object. Sizing Liquid is required for applying the leaf. Mohawk Metal Composition Leaf is priced per book, 25 Sheets per Book. Mohawk Furniture Finishing Products Clear Sizing Liquid is used with Gold and Silver Leaf products. This Mohawk finishing products is fast drying, very little color. Drying can be slowed up by adding a small amount of boiled linseed oil, may be colored with Universal Colors. Mohawk Finishing Products Mohawk concentrated lining grade bronzing colors free of fillers and extenders. This product is used to decorate picture frames, furniture, lamps, antique objects and many other items. For extra bright effects, highlighting is effective. Raised portions of a frame can be burnished to a higher luster thus creating a contrast with the rest of the work. Sold by volume, some settling may occur. Mohawk Furniture Finishing Products Mohawk Two Minute Touch-up™ and Solvent. This is a brushing type clear liquid lacquer used with Blendal Powder Stains for spot brush touch-up and coloring edges. This Mohawk product stays wet on the brush, dries in minutes on the repaired surface. Mohawk claims this product is a must in every finisher's kit for use in areas where the "padding" method is not practical. To lay the color flat without build up use Two Minute Touch-up™ Solvent. Mohawk Furniture Finishing Products Mohawk wood finishing and touch up Match-All Stain and Grain System. The perfect match for staining and graining. The materials contained in this system are specifically designed to enable you to quickly and accurately replace background and grain to damages on furniture and cabinets. Any color in wood tones can be matched from staining and graining colors. The color guide brings you to a close match quickly and easily. This Match-All System makes the job easier for all levels from novice to pro repair technician. Mohawk Furniture Finishing Products Quik Tip Marker. Fast opaque color touch up marker with a felt tip. Solid color touch-up, high solids, high gloss, excellent adhesion, durable finish no top coat needed, recolor worn edges, minor surface and edge marks. Custom color matching is available with a minimum order of 72 per color. Mohawk Furniture Finishing Products The Pro-Mark capillary marker features excellent flow. Whether you need to touch-up 1 inch or 20 feet, the Pro-Mark Marker does it the first time and every time. The colors are the most fade resistant; the most resistant to color shift from top coating and have the best bleed resistance. The nib offers superior flow along with the durability needed to do all normal repair work. The nib remains usable for the life of the marker. This marker marks equally well with the edge, the bottom or the tip. Good adhesion to most surfaces and resistance to polishes are built into the Pro-Mark Marker. Custom color matching is available with minimum order of 72 per color. Mohawk Micro-Mesh is a collection of very fine grade abrasive pads in 7 grades used for fine scratch removal. The finest grit-12,000 is capable of polishing a finished surface to a semi gloss and even a high gloss surface. Mohawk Micro-Mesh is commonly used on polyester or acrylic surfaces to achieve super-high gloss. Mohawk Micro-Mesh is sold 4 per package, 3" x 6". Mohawk is your best choice for general purpose cleaning and finishing a variety of surfaces. Fast cutting Non-Woven Hand Pads leave a more consistent finish than steel wool, wire brushes, and other non-woven hand pads. This Mohawk finishing product can be used with water or solvents. Mohawk Non Woven Hand Pads will not rust. Use as a final step when generating matte finishes on some solid surface countertops. Mohawk Non Woven Hand Pads are sold by the pad. Steel wool is a great flexible alternative to sanding. This product is perfect for curved and ornate woodwork. It is also suitable for use with most strippers and refinishers. Steel wool moves old finishes without harming original surfaces. This product is recommended for use with most stains, lacquers and protective finishes. Steel wool is ideal for cleaning and removing rust from metal surfaces. Cork Block is used with all types of sandpaper and finishing paper for a level sanding job. 4"x2"x1". Felt Block is a semi-hard felt, recommended for fine hand rubbing on all finishes. 4"x2"x1". Rubber Block- Designed to fit the hand comfortably, this Rubber Block is always a flat surface. It will never swell or warp when wet, and never shallow out a repair. Use with nylon abrasive pads for uniform scuff sanding. Cover with micromesh paper for hi-gloss finishes. Cover with cloth for use with water base compound or solvent base compound for buffing. 3 3/4"x 2"x1". Bril-Glow Mild Abrasive Restores new look of finished surfaces. Removes surface scratches. Applied as a polish and then buffed until the original beauty of the finish is restored. Mohawk Bril-Glow is sold in 1 Quart bottles. Mohawk finishing Flat Lube Concentrated Paste Flattener is used with water and a steel wool pad to produce a satin or flat sheen finish. This product cleans easily. Mohawk Flat Lube Paste leaves a surface completely free from residue. Apply with 3/0 or 4/0 steel wool depending upon how flat of a sheen is desired. Mohawk finishing Flat Lube eliminates hairline scratches. Ideal for oil walnut finishes. Level I, Low Sheen Rubbing Compound is a semi-paste, fine abrasive compound for rubbing down lacquer, shellac and most other finishes. Removes minor surface imperfections and overspray on spot repairs. Use Neutral on white and light colored surfaces. Black is ideal for darker finishes. Use for hand or machine buffing. Level II, Step 1 Liquid Rubbing Compound is used to remove overspray and wet sanding scratches on conventional and modern high tech finishes. Mohawk Level II Liquid Rubbing Compound yields a high satin sheen. Use for hand or machine buffing. Mohawk wood finishing product Level II, Step 2 Liquid Polishing Compound chemically cleans and polishes while removing Step 1 compound scratches and swirl marks. Mohawk wood finishing product Level II, Step 2 Liquid Polishing Compound yields medium gloss sheen. Use for hand or machine buffing. Mohawk Level II, Step 3 Liquid Finishing Compound removes swirl marks from Step 2 Polishing Compound and increases surface gloss. Rubbing Pads are used for hand application of rubbing compounds for spot repair. Mohawk Rubbing Pads are sold 4 per package. Mohawk Pumice Stone, 4F Grit produces a soft luster. Use to produce a smooth finish after applying the final coat of lacquer or varnish. Apply with rub-cut pound package. Rotten Stone produces a high gloss finish. This is a powdered abrasive for achieving a mirror-like finish on various coatings. Mohawk Rotten Stone is an extra fine cutting and smoothing properties. Mohawk Rotten Stone can be applied with water or Rub-Cut-Oil. Mohawk Rotten Stone is often employed after a finish has been rubbed with Pumice Stone. Available in a 5 pound bag. Mohawk wood finishing Rub Cut Oil also known as Paraffin Oil is designed as a rubbing agent for use with abrasive papers, pumice stone, rotten stone etc. Formulation of fine chemical abrasives and cutting oils speeds rubbing and leveling. Available in one 1 gallon. Mohawk Wool Lube also known as wool wax is a concentrated lubricant that eliminates the need for rubbing oil and solvents. This rubbing lubricant is a multi-purpose rubbing compound in either liquid or paste form made to prepare all finished wood surfaces. Water soluble, nontoxic, contains no silicones. Excellent for removing pack marks. Mohawk Wool Lube gives a smooth clear finish. Use with steel wool or abrasive pads. Furniture rubbed with Wool-Lube rubbing lubricant may be re-coated with lacquer or wax with good adhesion. Finally, Wool-Lube rubbing lubricant does not gum up on the finished surface. Just wipe clean with a cloth and the furniture is ready to be waxed or polished. Premium Garnet material used in hand, fine finish type sanding, or sanding undercoats of finishing materials. This product offers a "softer" cut that leaves a smoother surface. B-Weight Silicon Carbide paper, resin over glue bond, semi-open coat top-coated with Zinc Stearate dry lubricant. carbide sand paper is suitable for sanding contoured or flat surfaces by hand, with sanding blocks, or on vibrating sanders. Ideal for sanding sealer, wash coats, bare softwoods and hardwoods, and between coats of furniture finishes. This product is available in 9" X 11" sheets. 100/Pk Aluminum Oxide A, C & D weight paper material. Aluminum oxide is an extremely tough and durable synthetic abrasive. For sanding wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass and painted surfaces. Aluminum oxide produces a soft, consistent finish at a budget price. Available in 9" X 11" Sheets. 25/Pk Waterproof Silicon Carbide, A-Weight paper, resin-resin bonded and available in 5 grits. Use for sanding of furniture finishes such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, oil, polishing of glass, and in automotive body shops for final color sanding of paint.
